Mulching
Mulch suitable harvested stubble before cultivation to improve the next crop and tidy vineyards/orchards.
When to mulch
Mulch after harvesting a crop that leaves suitable stubble and before the next cultivation/seedbed pass. Mulching provides a 2.5% yield improvement for the following crop.
Vineyard/orchard use
Mulchers are also useful between grape/olive rows to manage vegetation while keeping the narrow row layout workable.
Procedure
- Harvest the previous crop.
- If suitable stubble remains and you want the bonus, attach a mulcher.
- Cover the harvested area before cultivation.
- Cultivate/plough/direct-drill as required after mulching.
