Mulcher

Chops crop stubble or vegetation to provide the optional mulching yield bonus and maintain vineyard/orchard lanes.

What it is used for

Chops crop stubble or vegetation to provide the optional mulching yield bonus and maintain vineyard/orchard lanes.

How to operate it

Run it over harvested stubble before cultivation. In vineyards/orchards, cut regrown grass between rows.

Selection and setup

Check the in-game shop for power requirement, working width, capacity, supported fill types, hitch/header compatibility and optional configurations before purchase or leasing.

Operating procedure

Before starting, confirm the machine is compatible with the crop/material and that the power unit meets the shop requirement. Attach or enter the machine, unfold/prepare it, position at the start of the work area, lower/activate the working components where applicable, then work consistent passes at the machine’s rated working speed. Monitor fill level, material type and missed strips. Stop/lift the working parts before tight headland turns, reposition, then resume.

Before you buy or lease

Check working width, working speed, power requirement, capacity, supported fill/crop types, hitch/header compatibility, wheel/tyre options and whether the tool combines another field operation. Lease highly specialised equipment when it will only be used for a small acreage.

Compatibility & attachments

This shows what the equipment connects to, which attachment families work with it, and what each combination is used for. For a specific model, the in-game shop Combinations panel is the final compatibility check.

Tractor front or rear hitchChop crop stubble/residue for the mulching yield bonus.Check whether the model is front- or rear-mounted; front mounting can combine with another rear operation.

Procedure

  1. Use after harvesting a compatible crop when stubble is still present and before the main cultivation/seedbed pass.
  2. Attach the mulcher to a suitable tractor, unfold it and line up along the field edge.
  3. Lower and activate it, then cover the complete harvested area in overlapping passes.
  4. Verify the mulched field state/texture behind the machine before moving on to cultivation or planting.
  5. Treat mulching as an optional small yield-improvement pass; skip it when the extra time/cost is not worthwhile.

Alternative options

Alternative 1
Skip mulching to save time if the small bonus is not worth the pass.
Alternative 2
Front-mount a mulcher and rear-mount a cultivator where compatible.

Practical tips

  • Do not cultivate first if you intend to claim the stubble mulching bonus.
  • Operate at the tool’s rated working speed and allow space at headlands for clean turns.
