How to operate it

Choose sufficient horsepower, hitch compatibility, tyre setup and ballast. Attach the implement, connect it, unfold/lower/activate it as required, then work at the implement’s rated speed. Keep the tractor straight at headlands before lifting the tool.

Operating procedure

Before starting, confirm the machine is compatible with the crop/material and that the power unit meets the shop requirement. Attach or enter the machine, unfold/prepare it, position at the start of the work area, lower/activate the working components where applicable, then work consistent passes at the machine’s rated working speed. Monitor fill level, material type and missed strips. Stop/lift the working parts before tight headland turns, reposition, then resume.

Before you buy or lease

Check working width, working speed, power requirement, capacity, supported fill/crop types, hitch/header compatibility, wheel/tyre options and whether the tool combines another field operation. Lease highly specialised equipment when it will only be used for a small acreage.

Procedure

  1. Choose a tractor whose rated power comfortably meets the attached implement requirement and whose hitch/PTO connections are compatible.
  2. Fit suitable tyres and ballast for the job; use narrow tyres for crop-care passes when crop destruction is enabled and the tractor supports them.
  3. Attach the implement squarely, connect any required PTO/hydraulic functions and fill the implement if it carries seed, fertiliser or another material.
  4. At the field edge, unfold/prepare the implement before beginning the pass; lower and activate the implement only when aligned.
  5. Work at or below the implement rated speed. If wheel slip or engine load prevents that speed, reduce working width/load or use a more powerful/heavier tractor.
  6. Lift/stop the implement before a tight headland turn, line up the next pass with a small overlap, then lower/activate again.

Small tractors: light field work, yard, vineyards and loader jobs.

Medium tractors: general mixed-farm work.

Large tractors: wide heavy cultivation, drilling and large trailers.

Practical tips

  • Too little power causes poor speed on slopes; too little front/rear ballast can make steering or traction unstable.
  • Operate at the tool’s rated working speed and allow space at headlands for clean turns.
