Forestry Basics
Plant, fell, process and transport trees in the base game.
Felling
Use a chainsaw for flexible low-cost manual work or a tree harvester for faster mechanised felling, delimbing and cutting of compatible trees.
Extraction
Use winches, skidders, forwarders or loaders to bring timber to a roadside/loading area.
Products
Sell logs, deliver them to a sawmill/production, or turn suitable wood into wood chips.
Procedure
- Choose the trees/area to harvest and make sure you have a safe route for moving logs out.
- Fell trees with a chainsaw or tree harvester.
- Delimb and cut stems into lengths suited to the transport/sale method.
- Move logs with a forwarder, loader, winch/yarder route or log trailer.
- Sell logs or deliver them to a sawmill/production point; use a wood chipper when woodchips are the desired output.
- Remove stumps with a forestry mulcher/stump grinder before reusing the ground.
