Sorghum
Base-game guide to growing and harvesting sorghum.
Overview
Cereal-like crop using standard harvesting equipment.
Uses after harvest
Flour/production uses, animal feed and sale.
Detailed procedures
For each operation, follow the linked procedure pages below: soil preparation, seeding/planting, fertilising, weed control, rolling and harvesting. Equipment names in this article link to their individual operation pages.
Procedure
- Open field information: apply lime only if required; plough only if the field says it is required.
- Prepare the seedbed with a cultivator/disc/direct-drill route.
- Fill the seeder with seed, select this crop and sow inside the planting window shown in the infobox.
- Roll the freshly sown field if you want the optional 2.5% rolling bonus.
- Apply the first fertiliser stage; after the crop advances at least one growth stage, apply the second stage.
- Remove small weeds early with a weeder; use a hoe or herbicide if they become too large/row conditions require it.
- When harvest-ready, fit a grain header to a combine, unfold/lower/activate it and harvest parallel passes.
- Unload the combine into a trailer before the grain tank becomes a bottleneck, then store/sell/process the crop.
