Spinach
Base-game guide to growing and harvesting spinach.
Overview
Fast-growing crop that can support more than one harvest in a year when planted early enough and seasonal growth permits.
Uses after harvest
Preserved-food production and direct sale.
Procedure
- Prepare the seedbed and sow spinach with a compatible seeder as early as possible if you want two cuts.
- Apply yield improvements: fertiliser, rolling after sowing and early weed control.
- Harvest with the specialist spinach harvester as soon as the first crop is ready; unload into a trailer.
- Sell/process quickly because spinach cannot be stored.
- Leave the harvested plants to regrow; if timing permits, harvest the second growth with the same harvester.
