Poplar
Poplar is a renewable woody crop normally harvested as wood chips.
Planting
Plant poplar with compatible specialist planting equipment.
Harvest
Use a forage/wood-chip harvesting setup that supports poplar. The crop regrows, reducing the need to replant after every harvest.
Procedure
- Prepare the field and plant poplar using the dedicated planter.
- Allow the crop to reach maturity; it is a long-cycle woody crop.
- Fit the compatible poplar/wood-chip header to the forage-harvesting system and keep a trailer available for output.
- Harvest the mature stand into wood chips and transport them for sale/processing.

Practical tips
- Can be harvested once mature; not tied to a narrow annual harvest window.
